[Remus Lupin]

Remus had been feeling anxious and generally not himself. He needed to get away from the common room, so he could try and get a grip on himself. He knew what the cause was. The moon was almost full and he just needed some space.

He opened the door of one of the empty classrooms, and walked into the cavernous room. Remus closed the door behind him, and walked further in. His footsteps echoed as he made his way across the room, toward the window. He leaned on the windowsill, and looked out at the grounds. Tomorrow would be the full moon, and he would have to face the next few nights alone.

A noise made him jump, and he looked over to where it came from. He saw the door opening slowly.

Jaimi took the short cut to the Gryffindor common room, she wasn't going to hang around for him to come out, just ask the fat lady if there was any way she could ask if he could come out. There wasn't, but she did tell Jaimi that he had left only moments ago. Deciding to go for a walk around the classroom on her way back she found herself in the third floor corridor.

She thought she heard a door at the end of the corridor shut, and wondered who would be down this corridor and why. She walked cautiously towards the door she thought it was and opened it softly, despite the smoothness of the motion the door creaked suddenly and made her jump.

Through the crack in the door she saw someone standing at the window also jump and turn to look at the door. Seeing it was Remus she smiled and opened the door properly.

"Hey," she stood, slightly awkwardly, in the doorway. He looked distracted and a little peaky and she realised, too late, that he had probably come here to be alone. "I can go if you want me to." she knew what the problem was. Tomorrow night would be a full moon, the first night she would sit in her room and worry about the pain he was causing himself. If she was worried it must be nothing compared to how he was feeling.

`Remus was about to tell the intruder to get lost, when he saw it was Jaimi, he bit his tongue and shook his head. "No, you don't have to go. I could use a distraction." He said taking a few steps closer to her. He felt a calmness come over him, as he neared her. He couldn't help but notice the worry etched on her face. "Is everything OK Jaimi? Is something bothering you?" It never entered his head, that the concern she had would be for him.

"If someones upset you..." His jaw tightened, as he felt a sudden surge of anger.

Jaimi relaxed a little and stepped into the classroom shutting the door quietly behind her. She turned back to see him approaching her, and could have sworn he visibly relaxed a little as he did so.

Jaimi didn't realised that the worry had shown on her face, but didn't bother trying to hide it now he had seen. She walked up to him and slid her hand in his. With his next words his jaw tightened and she put up a hand to stroke it. His sudden surge of chivalry making her smile despite the worry she felt for him.

"Look at you being all macho." she said looking up at him, her small burst of mirth fading as she saw how tired he was looking. "No one's upset me Remus." she took her hand away from his face and slid it around his waist, hugging him. She just needed to focus on the fact that right now he was here, and he was safe.

He looked into her eyes, as she put her hand in his and smiled, lowering his gaze a little, as she playfully made fun of him. "Well...I.." He was embarrassed, and stumbled over his words. "When her hand reached up to touch his face, he welcomed the touch, leaning into it, as she spoke he sighed heavily. "Oh." He said softly

As she pulled him into a hug, he put his arms around her, holding her tight. "I'm glad you came Jaimi." He whispered into her ear.He relaxed more now and wished that he could hold onto her for the rest of the night, but he loosened his hold and looked at her."Did you come looking for me for anything in particular? Or were you just exploring again?" He smiled.

"I was exploring, and ended up near Gryffindor tower, the Fat Lady told me you'd just left so I carried on walking and ended up here with you." she said looking up at him, worry still shining in her eyes.

"I'm glad I found you too." she said resting her head on his chest. "I wasn't looking for you, but it's you I'm worried about." she sighed. "I hate to think of you out there alone and what you could be doing to yourself." She started stroking his back through his clothes, more as a comfort to her than to him, she had always been quite a tactile person.

He smiled when he heard she'd been exploring. "You're becoming a marauder." He soon changed his expression though, when she explained that she was worried about him. He sighed and comforted by her touch he held his hand over the one that was on his chest. "You're worried about me? No one's ever worried about me in that way." He said, his voice catching in his throat a little.

He coughed and spoke a little stronger. "You shouldn't worry Jaimi. I'll be OK." He smiled. "I'll get by, like I always do."

She smiled slightly as he put his hand over hers, his warmth comforting her supported by the confidence with which he spoke. It didn't do a lot to allay her fears though.

"I'm sure your family does. And doesn't being your girlfriend give me a right to worry." She had thought about it long and hard during the days they had been apart. The weight of her missing him on her chest was enough to convince her that she would make a go of this, no matter how scary outwardly defying her father was. She just had to hope that no Slytherins that knew her family happened to mention anything in letters home.

Remus smiled a little at what she said about his parents. "Oh they do, I suppose." He looked at her, as she spoke about being his girlfriend. "You....You are?" He says slowly, not quite believing his ears, and fleetingly wondered whether he'd heard her correctly.

A smile crept over his face and he pulled her into a hug, kissing her firmly on the lips. He pulled her up and swung her around, the smile lighting up to reach his eyes.Putting her down, he still held her close. "You're serious right? I mean really serious?"

She smiled knowingly as he realised that his parents would be worrying about him too.

"If you still want me to be." she said, almost nervously. She smiled too as she saw his expression change, allowing his arms to envelope her in a crushing hug and kissing her roughly on the lips in his excitement. Before she could pull away he lifted her off the floor and spun her round.

"I wouldn't joke about something like that." she said as he put her back down on the floor.

He grinned at her. "If I still want you to?" he repeated happily. "Of course I still want you to. I just never dreamed that you would." He gazed at her, his face still etched with tiredness, but his smile was radiant. "I know you wouldn't. I was just checking." He grinned hugging her again.

Still in the embrace, he calmed down and remembered about whet she'd said previously about her father. "Jaimi, what about your family? I suppose you would want us to be discreet." He said in a softer voice. "I don't mind doing that, if that's what you would prefer." He didn't want to let go of her, he felt he was in a dream, and he didn't want to let go, because he might wake up.

He pulled back just enough, so he could gaze into her eyes. "Please don't worry about me though. I know it's hard, but I will survive the next few days, and knowing I have you now has given me the strength to face it." He kissed her tenderly, and he felt like his heart would burst free.

She smiled up at him, enthused by how pleased he was with her decision. She buried her face in his chest, finally feeling completely comfortable with doing so.

She looked up at him as he asked about her family, a slight frown etched on her face. "A little discrete maybe, but if he does find out, there's nothing he can do until I go home in July." she smiled up at him. "But I just don't want to worry about that when all I can think about is you being alone tomorrow night."

she sighed, "I know I shouldn't worry, but there's no point in saying I won't when I know I will." she thought about voicing a question that had been bugging her for a while. "Where do you go anyway? I mean, you can't hide out in the hospital wing surely." the question was partly to direct the conversation away from the fact that she was worrying and onto something that was vaguely related, but not quite.

Remus nodded his head slightly in agreement about being discreet. "I don't want them to remove you from school, or punish you in some other way, so I will Honor your wishes." He smiled a little, reaching his hand up to cup her face. "No, I don't stay in the hospital. There are to many risks involved." He said quietly, knowing she would understand. He led her to one of the desks and sat on one, indicating for her to sit with him. "Dumbledore provided me with a place, where I could go, and other students would be safe. It was a condition put in place, so that I could come here." He started. Pausing a moment, he continued. "I go to the Shrieking Shack. Then later I go to the hospital wing, so that I can rest and get my wounds tended to."

Remus slowly lifted his sleeve, to show her the scars on his arm. "You see that way, I'm only a danger to myself, and not anyone else." He looked at her, a small smile on his face. "So you see, you're going out with the ghost who howls in the Shrieking shack once every full moon."

She smiled at his willingness to stay discrete, and wondered how in the name of Merlin she had found him.

"Professor Dumbledore would never let him take me out of school for this, you have to have good enough reason, and considering I want to stay there isn't one." she said with a smile.

She followed him over to the the desk and gracefully hopped onto it beside him as he explained where he went every month. As helifted his sleeve she stared at the scars, almost in horror at the realisation that part of Remus' mind would want to hurt his body so much. she took his arm in her hands and ran a delicate finger up each scar, every single one making her want to somehow help him stop tearing himself apart even more than she had before.

His last statement however made her laugh. "My claim to fame, not that I'm allowed to talk about it." she said with a smile.

Remus looked relieved that the possibility of her being removed from Hogwarts couldn't happen. His skin tingled at her touch, when she traced the scars along his arm. "It's not something I do consciously." He told her softly. "I think it's something to do with trying to escape the confines of the shack." He added thoughtfully.

He laughed at her comment."Well, Sirius, James and Peter know, but they would never openly speak of my furry little problem." He still smiled at the nickname, his transformation had been given.He held her hand. "I don't mind us not talking about our relationship. I think I prefer it to be honest. I like the idea of just us knowing. It seems to make it more special."
