After a Walk (Atticus, then James/Marauders)

[Lily Evans]

Lily whistled as she walked up to the end of the bridge, she had just been for a nice long walk of the grounds and decided to deviate from her normal Saturday route and head over to the bridge. She had seemed to walk quicker today and as such it was early afternoon when she reached the end of it.

She hopped up the steps and started across it, pausing to look at the view, the late autumn sun filtering through the clouds, her whistle faded to a hum, as she followed the melody of her favourite song.

She turned to continue and saw someone enter the other entrance to the bridge, someone wearing green who definitely wasn't Severus. She swallowed and glanced back, she could leave that way. Mentally she slapped herself, she had never run from a Slytherin before and she wasn't going to start now.

She continued along the bridge slowly, looking out at the view, trying to look like she wasn't paying any attention to him.

Atticus strolled down the bridge noticing the girl strolling the other way he recognised her as a gryfindor girl who the marauders knew

Maybe he could get some revenge here he thought

They met about half way down the bridge he looked at her and spoke in a clam inviting voice

"Lovely day were having isnt it , I love walking this bridge on a nice day like today what brings you out here?"

Lily was shocked when he stopped and spoke to her, in a manner that was entirely unlike the last time she had heard this particular Slytherin speak to a muggleborn. She felt her forehwad contract slightly in confusion, but dispelled it quickly, although remained lost for words for a few moments.

"I always go for a walk on a Saturday afternoon." she said slightly defensively. Whatever game he was playing she wanted to be no part of it. "And yourself?" she asked, he was at least being polite so she saw no reason that she shouldn't do the same.

"I often go for a stroll my self I try to get out for one whenever I can but that's getting harder and harder with my owls coming up" he looked across from the bridge taking in the beautiful landscape that surrounded them

He knew that she had probably heard of his reputation but knew he could easily explain that away if need be he looked over to her as he Waited for her to speak

"You should always make time for yourself, no matter how hard you intend on studying." she said matter-of-factly "Nothing sets you up for an evening of being a bookworm better then some exercise." She felt her forehead crease again as she surveyed him while he looked out at the landscape she had been training her eyes on a few minutes earlier.

From everything she had heard about this particular Slytherin, thish was not what she had expected. She would have expected a curse for looking at him wrong but his current manner suggested nothing of the sort.

She couldn't escape the feeling that he was up to something.

"I spose that is true but it such a load of work I feel like I'm drowning at times with all this work and some subjects I just can't get my head round" he looked at her "so what about you how you finding it this year seems to be weird year so far what with that prank at the start of the year and that"

[Lily Evans]

"You don't have to sit and struggle on your own, I know Slytherins are into self preservation and all that, but couldn't you help each other out, there's got to be something you're better at than other people that you can help them with in return for something you aren't so good at." she explained, then bit her lip. Maybe she had said too much, but she was a very practical person, she saw a problem and found a solution.

"Well third year is always a weird one, what with it being the first year of elective subjects. The prank was annoying, but at least I got to eat before getting mashed potato in my face, luckily it was nearly cold." she said with a wry smile. She was starting to relax a little more now.

"I'm Lily, by the way, Lily Evans."

"Atticus , Atticus kaine!" He offered her his hand to shake it as a greeting

"Oh trust me slytherins are not like that it is bed much self preservation or nothing at all. Yeah electives are weird regret most of mine they are the boring subjects I prefer the cores transfiguration , dada and charms "

He thought back to the prank " yeah it didn't impress me either I had to throw up a shield charm just incase "

"I would have used one, but I couldn't get to my wand quick enough." she admitted with a laugh. She could at least laugh about it now, as soon as she had gotten up to the common room she had sought out Potter and shouted at him for it. He had apologised profusely and cleaned the masehed potato up with his own wand, which she in her anger had forgotten to clear off her face properly.

"I'm sorry to hear that," she said her opinion of the house ideals dropping even further, especially considering she could trump them at potions every time and the potions master was their head of house. "I know what you mean, potions will always be my favourite subject, but I am really enjoying Arithmancy." She said with a smile.

"I prefer a subject with wand work I can't wait for wand less magic I've does some study into and it seems very interesting " he twisted the truth slightly he was actually quiet proficient at it

"I was lucky had my wand out on the table so it weren't hard to get a shield harm up deflected off a plate " he laughed t the memory "damn marauders causing trouble "

"Yes wandless magic is extremely difficult, that's NEWT level though and only if you can do wordless magic." She said enthusiastically, something in common with a Slytherin, who knew.

She smiled indulgently, "They do have a tendency to cause trouble yes. Try being in the same year and house as them." She added in a falsely bright voice. "They aren't all bad, Peter barely has any involvement in the pranks, he just tags along, and Remus is the reason the pranks are as toned down as they are." She explained.

Atticus cringed slightly at remus's name " yeah I've managed to get wordless magic down but that took lot of time and study"

"Well yeah spose they haven't killed anyone yet which is a plus and it is good I'm not in same year or house as them"

[Lily Evans]

"I can imagine, I took a look at one of the books in the library a couple of weeks ago to see what it was bout, and it look crazy hard." she said with a laugh.

"Oh, they'd never kill anyone, I may not like what they do but they are really careful about their planning. And this is the first time anyone's gotten hurt and even then it was only bruises and minor cuts." she sighed. "I'm not defending what they did, but it can be funny." she admitted slightly bitterly.
