Dawn was just breaking over the top of the stands. Not many would be out at this time of morning, but the sounds of creaking steps could be heard as a young girl made her way to a seat in those stands. She was never terribly interested in flying, the thought of it scaring her, and only ever came to the pitch for an occasional game of quidditch. But with the quidditch season still a bit off and the day still too young for most, she found the pitch to be the perfect place to sit and think.
Raiyta sat herself in the last row and leaned back against the wood. For a while she sat, her mind blank, watching the shadows move on the ground far below. She'd received a letter the night before from her brother, or rather from one of his friends using his owl. He was sick in the infirmary, and she worried greatly for him. After their mother passed away their father had fallen into a depression that he'd yet to fully pull himself out of, even though it was getting better. Raiyta and Kalfaux had clung to each other since then. She tried to put it out of her mind, knowing he'd get better but regardless she worried.

James had been out at daybreak, having a fly around the Quidditch pitch, practising his manouvers, while it was quiet. He liked to fly when there were no interruptions. He came out of the locker room and waked back across the pitch. James looked up, as the sun hit his face, and he saw someone up in the seats. Thinking it was Jaimi, he headed up to where she was sitting to tell her how things had gone with Lily.
He trudged up the stand and got to the seats. He only realized it wasn't Jaimi, as he drew nearer. He stopped a little way off and coughed. "Oh sorry. I thought you was someone else." He said apologetically. He then recognised the girl, as someone from his house. "It'sw Raiyta isn't it?" He asked slowly.

Raiyta leaned her head back against the wood of the stands and let her eyes gently close. She was worrying over nothing, Kalfaux would be fine. He was stronger than he seemed. After all, how much strength could a thirteen year old body truly appear to look. She herself, was a tiny thing.
The steps creaked on the stands. They were old, so it was bound to be natural. Sneaking up on someone was thus, almost impossible. Her ears twitched in an animalistic way at the subtly changing sounds in the creaking floorboards. At the cough, her eyes shot open. On instinct from her brother, the muscles in her legs tightened, readying her to get up and leave. At the sight of one of her classmates instead, she forced her body to relax.
"Yeah," she responded. "Rai for short. And you're... James?" Her voice was gentle but held the hint of something more, a strength she could pull out at a later time. Raiyta couldn't help the furrowed brows in confusion. Why was he talking to her now?

James edged a little closer as she spoke to him. He nodded his head and smiled broadly, as she correctly remembered his name. "Yep, that's me.The one and only." He moved to sit a couple of seats away from her. Close enough to hold a conversation, but far enough away not to make her feel like he was crowding her.
"Pleased to finally get to talk to you Rai." He shifted in his seat a little, getting comfortable. "I hope you don't mind me being here? As I said, I thought you were my friend Jaimi, and you looked a little lost in your thoughts when I showed up." He smiled a little as he ruffled his hair. "Are you alright?"

Raiyta offered up a small smile as James drew closer. Despite her somewhat awful mood, she wasn't going to let him think she was a rude person devoid of human contact and interaction. She laughed a light, little laugh at his comment. Just like he always is, she mused. It wasn't that she'd watched him intently to figure that out. No one needed to watch him or his friends that closely; they had a habit of making themselves known. But Raiyta had grown fond of people watching and he was generally in the common room enough to watch.
"Pleasure is all mine," she replied. She took the same opportunity to adjust her seating as he had, fixing herself to be sideways on the bench facing her classmate instead of the pitch. Her response to his question was simply a shrug. His being there wasn't a bother, simply an unusual occurrence. Her response to his second question came quicker, possibly too quick. "I'm fine." Kalfaux will be fine, put the worry from your mind.

James rested his head in his hand, as he leaned against the back of the seat to face her. He grinned as she responded. "Of course it is." He didn't mean to sound arrogant, it was like he just said the first thing that came into his head that sounded amusing to him.
His smile slipped a little at her quick response to his last question. James wondered whether he should enquire further or not. He eventually decided that he would let the subject pass. After all, if she wanted to share, she would have done so...wouldn't she? He looked out over the pitch for a moment and turned back to Rai. "You know it seems that anyone who wants to be alone with their thoughts, always seem to find themselves up here." He mused aloud. "Like these stands have some kind of magical problem solving power." James chuckled lightly. "Personally I ignore things that make my head hurt. I prefer to cause a little mischief instead. Much more productive in my opinion."
