Breakfast and Bats [Marauders if poss]

[Peter Pettigrew]

Peter was sat at the Gryffindor table piling bacon and eggs onto his plate. He added some fried bread, mushrooms and tomatoes. He'd got there before the others, so he could catch up on some reading. He still couldn't get his head around what he was supposed to be learning.He shoveled a forkful of bacon into his mouth and chewed thoughtfully, as he read.

[Remus Lupin]

Remus walks into the Great Hall and plonks himself down next to Peter. He starts to fill his plate with food and turns to Peter. "Hi Peter, what are you reading?" Remus cranes his neck, to try and read the text. "Potions?" He cut up his bacon and put it into his mouth. Chewing hurriedly, before inserting some egg. He spoke with his mouth full. "What are you stuck on?"

[Sirius Black]

Sirius slouched into the great hall. His tousled hair showing the entire school just how much he hated mornings. He slumped into a seat next to Remus at the Gryffindor table, having just enough sense to be able to fork some of the food he liked onto a plate grunt a 'good morning' to Remus and Peter and begin to eat Soporifically.

[James Potter]

James comes sauntering in with his hair just as tousled as Sirius'. He yawns and plops dpwn next to Sirius. "Ugh!" Was his only sound, as he lifted his glasses off the bridge of his nose and rubbed his eyes, before putting some food on his plate. He looked over at Remus and Peter. "Hey Remus, have we missed the owl post?" He ate some bacon and egg from his fork.

"Sirius, you know the try outs are this afternoon. Did you find a decent bat?" He asked casually. James poured himself a cup of coffee from the pot on the table. He added some milk and far to much sugar.

[Peter Pettigrew]

Peter muttered a 'Hello' to his friends, as they arrived one by one. He briefly looked at Remus, when he asked him what he was stuck on. "Shrinking solution." He sighed and closed his book, and concentrated on eating his breakfast. When James inquired about the post. "No James, I've been here longer then Remus, and there's been nothing yet." He looked at him curiously. Are you expecting something from home James?" He began shoveling his food into his mouth, while keeping his eyes on his friend.

"Ooh Sirius. Are you trying out for beater again this year?" He asked eagerly. "I'll come and cheer you on, if you like?"

[Remus Lupin]

Remus smiles and slowly shakes his head. "I'll go over it with you later." He smirked at Sirius and James. He could have sworn that if he didn't know better, he'd have thought they were related. He said hello to them both, and let Peter twitter on like a canary. "Oh yes. I'll come and cheer you on to mate. I mean...You'll need all the help you can get." He surreptitiously winked at James.

Just as he was about to grab a hot pancake,from one of the platters, there was a loud whoosh and the fluttering of wings. "Post!" He announced automatically and looked up for an owl from home. He couldn't help but notice three large owls flying in unison, carrying a long parcel, that they dropped in front of Sirius. Almost knocking his breakfast flying. They perched in front of them all and waited for a treat. "Hey Sirius.have you been ordering out of the Daily Prophet advertisement section again?"

[Sirius Black]

"Borrowed a school one, it's not amazing, but hopefully it'll do. I threw it about a bit yesterday and despite having a huge dent in it, the balance wasn't bad. No woodworm either." He said shoving half a pancake into his mouth and chewing it slowly. He scowled at Remus' comment, all the help he could get.

"I'd like to see you try Moony, you'd probably hit the quaffe instead of a Bludger." At the sound of wings soaring into the great hall reached his ears, he looked up and saw three owls carrying a giant package straight towards him. He ducked slightly as it flew over his head and landed in his breakfast, sending it flying.

"I Haven't ordered anything." he said, looking at the package perplexed, as he threw each of the owls a piece of pancake.

[Peter Pettigrew]

Peter almost jumped out of his skin, as the package landed uncerimoniously on Sirius' breakfast. "Blimey! What's going on?" Peter peered at the package inquisitively. "Who's it from Sirius?" He asked eagerly. "Maybe you have a secret admirer." He doubted this though, as Sirius never really got through the day, without some girl making eyesd at him. "open it Sirius!"

[Remus Lupin]

He chuckled at the look on Sirius's face. Remus eyed James. and winked at him while Sirius was distracted. "Well Sirius, if you didn't order anything...then who did?" Then he added. "Oh and by the way. I may not be as good a Quidditch player as you and James, but that doesn't mean I can't tell the difference, between a Bludger and a Quaffle, thank you very much."

He nodded when Peter suggested that Sirius opened the parcel. "Yeah go on Sirius."

[Sirius Black]

Sirius looked at the package and up at his three friends, all sitting, watching, and waiting for him to open the package.

"You didn't..?" he asked, realising only now what shape the package was. Sirius ripped off the brown wrappings and there, on top of his breakfast, lay a brand new Beater's Bat. "I... You... Which one of you ordered it?" he said quietly, almost unable say anything at all as he stared down at the Bat. His brand new Bat.

[James Potter]

James beamed at Sirius, as he realized what the package contained, and ripped it open. "It was me...well, my mum and dad got it for me and sent it. I owled them, the morning after the great feast prank." He inspected the bat with Sirius and nodded approvingly. "They promised they would get the best one from the Quidditch Supplies shop." He smiled and nudged him. "Now no excuses at the try outs. I want to see you on the team this year."

[Peter Pettigrew]

Peter looked at the bat and then at James. His jaw dropped in awe at the bat, and admiration for James. "Wow it's great! You're so lucky Sirius." He reached out to touch the bat, just to feel the smoothness of it's polished surface. "It's beautiful." He sighed.

[Remus Lupin]

Remus nudged Sirius' shoulder and grinned. "James had the idea when you went to get the book you'd been reading all through the holidays." He admired the bat with the rest of them. "You should go try it out and get a feel for it, before the try outs mate."

[Sirius Black]

Sirius looked up at James his mouth open in shock. "You, your parents. I don't know what to say, thanks I guess, I..." He ran his hand along the bat and picked it up. "You bet I'll be on the team this year." he said grinning like a loon. "I was going to go and have another practise with the school one this afternoon, I can't wait, this is going to be so much better!"

Sirius looked at Moony when he made the comment about reading all summer. "How many times do I have to tell you not to shout about that, I have a reputation to uphold." he whispered dramatically through his teeth.

[Peter Pettigrew]

Peter looks at James and his jaw drops a little at the huge gesture. "WOW! James, if I try out for the team, do you think you could kit me out?" He grinned, as he said this, letting James hopefully know, that he was joking. Peter nods about the practice idea and when he hears about Sirius reading all summer, he looks puzzled. "Why were you reading? In fact, what were you reading, that held your interest for so long."
