"Well, thanks, charms too is an admirable thing to excel at." she smiled at Simanus. She suddenly realised what it was that she had been unable to put her finger on that had bugged her about Simanus. Her mother had used a muggle phrase once to describe it, 'pushing the punt at the Cambridge end' was what she'd said, Jaimi was sure.
"Thank you. It was nice to meet you too." she picked up the coin and inspected it curiously. "I guess I'll see you around then." The elf came back with a brown paper bag and transferred them into it for her.

"Surely," Simanus smiled, "'Tis a small enough school," she said, wiping the edges of her mouth as she stood. "The coin can be used to get in touch with me, or vice verse," she explained, then hesitated. She thought she recognized the look that had passed briefly over Jaimi's face, it generally portended that a person had figured out her eccentricity and was stuck as to what to do with it. "Unless I mistake the meaning of that look," she said at length, smiling an it's-alright smile, "the phrase you're looking for has a number of forms. I describe myself as 'a wee bit lavender,' the more modern terminology applied to Yule trees once decorated in my parents' day." She also did not care for the term to which she was referring, it sounded to her like a dismissal.
She was unsure of how to wrap up this conversation and so went to the old stand-by of extending her hand to Jaimi.

"Interesting." she saidas she picked up the coin and inspected it closer.
"A muggle phrase Mama uses is 'pushes the punt from the Cambridge end' but that's an ancient one. You are who you are Simanus, and that's just part of it." She shook the offered hand and picked up the paper bag. "Bye." she said, and pushed open the back of the portrait, leaving to get on with her day.
